The tragedy of failed TV

Having just plowed through the third and final season of Arrested Development, it got me thinking about how bad my luck is when it comes to getting hooked on TV shows. I started watching Buffy, and it ended not two seasons later. I switched over to Angel, and it got cancelled that season. Firefly I didn't even have the ability to watch while it was on the air, thanks to Rutgers' shitty cable services. Arrested Development, probably the best sitcom ever made, cut down just as it was really getting going. I'm hooked on Rescue Me, only to have Denis Leary go on Opie and Anthony and talk about how he doesn't want the show to go on for too long and has been strongly considering just shocking everyone by having his own character die halfway through the season and have the show end all abruptly and awkwardly like that. I'm frankly a little surprised that 24 and Lost are both still going on strong; I'm sure that'll change, now that I'm into them.

Have any of the rest of you had this kind of bad luck with TV, or are my tastes so weird that I'm just the kiss of death to any show I actually like?

Oh it definitely is not just you! I too LOVE Buffy and it said adios, so I totally get how you feel. Felicity, Sex & the City (I still haven't recovered from that yet, haha), Friends, Will & Grace (though the last few seasons weren't that great), all of those are gone.

There have been a few shows that I've been hooked on over these recent years and their cancellations are just hanging. I found out that Freddie got cancelled, kinda weird because I heard it was doing pretty well. I was a bit freaked with Smallville but it'll be back, now I just have to wait to see if Supernatural will return. Oh, What About Brian, but I think I read somewhere that it should be back too.

I'm sure there were other things I watched that got cancelled but I can't think of them right now.

I doubt the WB would let Smallville end. It's their only hit show left at this point, isn't it?

Oh, but some good TV news on the horizon. Now that two of my favorite older TV shows have just come out on DVD (Dinosaurs and The Tick), over the next two months two of my all-time favorites finally make their DVD premieres, with the Addams Family next month and Get Smart the month after. Woot woot.

Oh my gosh! I loved "get smart"!!! I used to watch it as a kid (I'd stay up late and check it out on nicolodean). =)

I only really watch "Project Runway" now b/c of time. Sorry, can't really commisserate w/ you, buddy.
