Why the lack of yellow love for our founding fathers?
Recently (recently in this case being roughly a month ago) I ventured southward to Washington D.C. with my friend Curtis and his overly extended family, during which I happened to notice something I thought was a tad interesting. While it is somewhat close to impossible to travel for more than half a block in Philly or NYC without running into at least one gaggle of Asians, they are few and far between in our nation's capital. I'm now honestly curious: fellow Asians, was I merely at DC on an off day, and there are normally throngs of Chinese and other Asian people plaguing the city like locusts, or is it normally as I saw it, the only major city in our area that is largely Asian free? If so, why? Is it a dislike of our founding fathers, a dislike of the present political machine, an overall lack of interest in politics, a feeling of not belonging in a system that's fairly overwhelmingly white on the national level, just a lack of landmarks with lots of shiny modern technology like New York has, what? I'm really curious about this. Speaking just for myself, this is the first time I've been down there since at least high school, so it's hardly as if I'm any kind of USA A-OK fanatic that must visit once a month for fear of turning to dust or anything, so I'm hardly one to condemn, but it was a rather curious contrast to every other big city I've been to in the past several years (this includes L.A., even though that's obviously nowhere near where we live).
So; theories, suppositions, and baseless accusations, let's hear 'em.

I appreciate the Simpsons reference. But I don't know what you're talking about. Throngs of Asians go there for tours, esp during cherry blossom season.

You hang out with me because I am a brilliant, brilliant man and because I am so damned attractive, particularly now that I no longer need glasses.
And I am fully willing to accept that I was just there on a really weird day, but seriously, out of the thousands of people I went past there, there were maybe three or four dozen Asians total, as opposed to Manhattan or Philly where anywhere from one third to 90% of the passers-by would be. It was a strange visit, once I began noticing this. Even stranger, I have no idea what Simpsons reference I evidently made. This whole event confounds me.

I agree with Emmy, I really don't know what you mean by that. My cousin works there so I'm all knowing about the ratio.
You got the eyes done already?? Do you still have your liver and kidneys? Hehe! How are you adjusting with the new eyes?
Hrmm, according to the 2000 Census info, D.C.'s population is approximately 3.17% Asian, as opposed to 5.5% for Philly and a scandalously high 9.4% for Manhattan. I would have expected Manhattan's numbers to be a bit higher, frankly.
